OHIP exams & Direct Billing

OHIP Coverage for Children Ages 0-19 years:
One full eye examination every year plus minor exams for emergencies such as conjunctivitis.
Adults ages 20-64:
Patients with diabetes, cataracts, retinal disease, acute onset strabismus (turned eye), amblyopia (lazy eye), glaucoma, corneal disease, or visual field loss are covered for annual eye examinations. Proof of diabetes required.
OHIP Coverage for Seniors (65 and up):
One full eye examination every 18 months plus up to 2 minor exams per year.
Private Insurance:
Many private insurance plans cover eye exam fees, spectacle, and contact lens costs. Please check with your insurance provider prior to your visit for the eligibility and terms of coverage for yourself and your dependents.
Direct Billing:
We are able to directly bill the following insurance providers for eye exam services and eye care products: Green Shield, Blue Cross, Manulife, Maximum Benefit, Standard Life, Sun Life, Group Source, Group Health, Chambers of Commerce Group, ClaimSecure, Cowan, Desjardins, Great-West Life, Industrial Alliance, Maximum Benefit, Johnston Group, Canadian Construction Workers Union, GMS Carrier 49 and 50, Liuna Local 183 and 506, Telus, Adjudicare, International Refugee Program, and Johnson Inc.
Appointments:
All appointments are pre-scheduled. Please ensure we have your insurance and OHIP information on file prior to your appointment. New patients must register online in advance of their visit. Have a list of your medications, and bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and any contact lens information with you to the appointment. Arrive 10 minutes early and allow for one hour in your day.
